Nodusfall Characters & Classes — Confirmed Demo Roles

A no-invention guide to Nodusfall characters and classes, covering the four gamescom demo roles, observed weapons, customization, unlocks, and roster unknowns.

Quick Answer

No final named Nodusfall roster has been officially announced. The gamescom demo presented four distinct playable roles—a frontline tank, healer or support, melee damage dealer, and ranged damage dealer—with different mechanics and customization. Their final names, launch availability, class taxonomy, elements, rarities, and progression are not yet public.

ObservedPress demo / names unconfirmed. Facts and development-build observations remain separately labeled throughout this page.

Nodusfall has playable characters, but it does not yet have a public, finalized character database. The first controlled demo let journalists choose from four differentiated characters. Reports establish role identity, weapons, character-specific mechanics, appearance customization, and at least one case where a character could choose between two classes. They do not establish final names or a complete launch roster.

This page uses descriptive demo labels instead of inventing names. Each entry is marked as a development-build observation. When HoYoverse publishes official profiles, the database can move to stable character pages without pretending the temporary labels were canon.

Has the full roster been announced?

No. The reveal trailer shows multiple human figures and large-scale transformations, while the gamescom build offered four playable choices. Neither is a promise that exactly those four characters form the launch roster. Trailer characters may be playable, narrative-only, redesigned, renamed, or part of a larger cast.

There is also no confirmed rarity system, faction list, element chart, character release schedule, duplicate-upgrade mechanic, or named launch count. Any current tier list or “best character” ranking lacks a stable public build and reproducible numbers.

Which demo roles were playable?

Hands-on reports consistently describe a party built around recognizable cooperative responsibilities.

Working label Observed role Recorded traits Status
Greatsword demo character Tank / frontline Large weapon, close target pressure, charged clash or counter, Divine transformation Demo; name unconfirmed
Support demo character Healer / support Ranged sustain role reported by PC Gamer Demo; name unconfirmed
Melee demo character Melee damage Close-range offensive role in the four-character setup Demo; name unconfirmed
Bow demo character Ranged damage Basic attacks fill an arrow gauge used for charged shots Demo; name unconfirmed

The table describes roles, not immutable launch classes. One report noted that a demo character had two class options while the others had one, which suggests character and class may be related but not identical. The final game could support subclasses, flexible loadouts, shared weapons, or role changes that were not exposed in the short session.

What was the tank character like?

PC Gamer selected a serious-looking character with a large sword who served as the group’s tank. Despite the weapon’s size, the reporter found the character surprisingly mobile. A charged strong attack could be released into an incoming monster strike to create a clash-style counter, rewarding timing rather than passive defense.

The same hands-on describes an Ultimate or Divine-scale transformation into a towering dual-wielding knight with a new set of powerful attacks. This is enough to show that at least one character’s identity reaches beyond a simple weapon moveset. It is not enough to name the form, calculate its duration, or say whether all characters transform.

What was the bow character like?

Inven Global selected a ranged bow user after learning another character during the tutorial. Basic attacks filled an arrow resource, which could then be spent on charged shots. That creates a character-specific rhythm: build a resource while maintaining distance, then convert it into stronger pressure when positioning and the target’s behavior permit.

The exact gauge size, charge levels, damage values, optimal rotation, and class name were tied to a development build and were not independently tested by this site. They should not be turned into a launch build guide.

What do we know about support and melee roles?

PC Gamer reports that another participant played a ranged healer, while broader demo summaries describe the four-person composition as tank, healer or support, melee damage, and ranged damage. This supports a genuine cooperative role structure rather than four interchangeable damage dealers.

Details for the support and melee demo characters are less complete in the source set. There is not yet enough evidence to publish skill lists, cooldown tables, healing coefficients, damage types, or optimal teams. Their inclusion here gives players a truthful roster overview without manufacturing database fields.

Can characters be customized?

Yes in the gamescom build. PC Gamer reports outfit, hairstyle, and accessory customization for the available characters. That suggests fixed character identities can coexist with player-selected appearance options. It does not establish the number of options, whether customization is earned or purchased, whether body or face editing exists, or whether every item works on every character.

Cosmetic monetization is under consideration according to the development team. The final division between free customization, earned cosmetics, event rewards, and paid items is unknown.

How are characters unlocked?

The development team says characters will not be obtained through random draws and are intended to unlock through continued play. No exact unlock path is public. Story progress, contracts, account milestones, crafting resources, challenges, direct grants, and other methods remain possibilities rather than confirmed systems.

This distinction matters for a co-op role game. If players need a tank, support, or ranged option, the availability of each role affects party planning. The “through play” direction is encouraging, but only final unlock requirements can show whether all groups receive practical access to the roles they need.

Are there classes, weapons, or both?

Current reporting points to all three layers: a named or authored character identity, a role-based class configuration, and equipped weapons or skills. PC Gamer says one demo character offered two classes while the others offered one. GAME Watch says characters, weapons, and skills can be changed to pursue a build. These observations may describe different menu layers or translation choices.

Until official terminology arrives, the safest model is:

  • Character: the playable identity with unique mechanics and appearance options.
  • Class or role: the cooperative function and possibly a selectable configuration.
  • Weapon and skills: build components that shape attacks and abilities.

That model is provisional. It will be revised if the final UI uses different boundaries.

What is still unknown?

Official names, biographies, voice actors, factions, elements, rarities, starting roster, unlock order, post-launch cadence, class limits, weapon restrictions, skill trees, stats, and team bonuses are all unannounced. We will not convert visual resemblance, fan nicknames, file rumors, or competitor labels into official entries.
